Trailer Brakes Only Work When Manual Override is Used With Prodigy P2 Brake Controller
Question:
Brake Assist does not work when you step on the brake pedal. The brake assist works when I manually operate the unit. Trailer brakes are engaged. However, when I apply the brakes it does engage the trailer brakes. All lights and blinkers function properly. Where should I now focus my attention to resolve this condition? There are no blown fuses as well.

The Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 is a proportional controller, so the trailer brakes are not going to be engaged unless you are moving (slowing down) as opposed to completely stopped. If you are referring to the P2 not working when you are slowing down but it does work with the manual override then the issue is almost certainly the connection between the stop light switch and controller. You'll need to ensure the red wire of the controller is connected to the wire above your brake pedal that only receives power when you press the brake pedal down. To test this you will need a circuit tester such as the very handy Cordless Circuit Tester # PTW2979.
I have added a link to a help article on brake controller troubleshooting which I also strongly recommend checking out.
