Troubleshooting Lippert Power Jack Not Extending or Retracting But Motor Is Working

Question:

I have a 2016 Forest EVo with the Power Jacks and the back jack wont go up or down. I got under to look and the motor turns on but see nothing spinning. Is it the motor or something else?

There are a couple potential reasons why the back Lippert Power Jack # LC298707 on your trailer won't extend or retract even with the motor running. It's possible that it may have been over-extended or something internally has been stripped or bent. Try using the manual crank on the jack to see if it's able to operate in this manner.

If it still struggles with the manual crank then the jack will need to be replaced.

If the jack works manually then I recommend making sure your battery is fully charged. These systems require a decent amount of power to actually lift up a trailer and I have seen where a battery is charged enough to power on the system and get the motor humming but not enough to actually extend/retract under load. Also make sure your ground connection is securely attached to a clean, bare metal surface.

If you're still having trouble finding the cause of this issue please let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot.

this is a warranty replacement that I've had for a year. it will retract fine and i can manually extend but nothing happens when i push the extent button. no sound or anything

i had the same issue as above, motor works fine but nothing moves, i found that the roll pin in the motor to screw axle coupling came out somehow, ive found a part number for a new coupling but cant seem to find one. is there maybe a new part number? number i have is 113406 motor drive coupler

We've actually had one other customer ask about that part number, but we weren't able to track down any info on it. I will say in all honesty though that if the roll pin came out, something else internally is likely damaged as well. I really think you're best option here is a new stabilizer jack altogether. The part # LC298707 is the current version from Lippert.

@ScottM Did you have to replace the whole jack? Or did you find the part? The motor works on mine and spins but won’t turn the (cotter pin)??

@Joe so i searched for weeks for that part number and nothing and i refused to replace the whole jack for a 20 cent roll pin. What i ended up doing was taking it all apart and getting the next size up roll pin and very carefully reamed everything out. It didnt take much because the hole was somewhat reamed out anyways and thats how the first roll pin fell out. I hope that makes sense and helps it just pisses me off that the manufacturer would say replace the jack for hundreds of dollars for a piece they could make and sell for $10
