Lippert Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers for 2018 Keystone Hideout

Question:

Your 279688 is rated at 6-8000 lbs.. Is that per axle or gvw. I have a 2018 hideout by keystone which I believe has inadequate suspension. The tires are not tracking correctly and wearing badly. The unit has about 8000 miles on it and the plastic bushings are coming out of the mounting holes and there is inadequate clearance between the top of the tires and the floor of the trailer. There are 3 leafs in the springs and they are all but flat when on flat ground and loaded. The lvw is 7682 lbs.. Would you recommend the 279688? Also do you have a heavy duty shackle and bolt kit? And what would be the length of the shackle plates?

The Lippert Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers # LC279688 are designed for 6,000 to 8,000 pound axles. This refers to the axle capacity and not the trailer's overall GVWR.

Since your hideout is equipped with lower rated axles a better option will be with the Lippert Equa-Flex Equalizers # LC279687, which are designed for 3,000 to 6,000 pound axles. With this in mind you will still need to measure your current equalizers to make sure these will work well as replacements.

These measure 5-1/2 inches from bolt hole to bolt hole and have a height of 2-1/2 inches from the top hole to the bottom. I have attached an image to assist.

We do have a large selection of shackle straps and suspension bolts but the specific size you need will really depend on what you currently have. I have attached a link that will take you to our complete selection. The various sizes available are listed on the left side of the page.

To be honest it sounds like there might be more going on with your trailer's suspension other than the fact that it's just equipped with less-than-premium components. I strongly recommend taking it up to a local trailer shop or a Keystone dealer so they can take a look at it. Its possible that there are some damaged or incorrectly sized components being used that need to be replaced as well.
