Switch to Use for Trailer Lights Powered by Trailer's Battery
Question:
I recently purchased a cargo trailer and it has interior lights that only work when the trailer 4 wire plug is connected to the tow vehicle TV. The plan for this trailer is to use it in an off-the-gridinch scenario, without access to the TV. So, I would like to re-wire these lights 2 LED lights so that they are connected directly to a 12v battery. What is the best method to do this? I would like to have a switch installed also. I am assuming I connect the power wires to the + lead, then to the switch and then to the lights I connect the ground wires to the - lead and then to the lights. I also think I need a fuse what size?, but where would it get connected? Since these are LEDs, do I need to install a resistor? I assume 14 gauge wire would be correct. Thank you in advance!

You have it figured out I'd say. It really is just a matter of running the lights to the battery you install in your trailer like you mentioned. We use switch part # D16740 a lot for this type of install. Check out the install video link I attached to see the install process using this switch to power lights.
No fuses or resistors would be needed either. 14 gauge wire would be adequate as well.
