Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question:

Hi Jameson: In an earlier email yesterday, you recommended -146. Below is a photo of the plug hook up exiting the back of the motor home. Is the RM-146 still the right part? Thanks

You are on the right track and everything you have so far is a great choice for flat towing your 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Blue Ox base plate kit part # BX1128 is a confirmed fit. I attached an install video for the kit for your installer to check out as well. The tow bar you have part # BX7420 is also a really great option too as well as the DUO part # SM99251 which I attached an install video for as well.

For lighting (only thing you are missing) you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV. See install vid for this too.

The brake light relay won't be needed though.

Thanks for your reply. I have just noticed further to what I had originally told you, I have omitted a part which I purchased from etrailer with the rest of the parts. It is the wiring kit RM-154. Please review my earlier email and advise what impact this has on your reply. Sorry for the confusion. Appreciate a quick reply if possible.

The # RM-154 is a great kit as it's basically the kit I mentioned in previous message with addition of umbilical wiring that goes from the vehicle to rear of tow vehicle. To add that you'd then also want the # RM-146 and you'd be set.

Thanks for the picture of your 7-way! So instead of the RM-146 you'd want the part # RM-146-7 which matches the connector you have at the rear of your RV.
