Would Heat From Exhaust Melt GearDeck 17 Enclosed Carrier if Installed on 04 Chrysler Pacifica
Question:
Can you provide mounting details for this unit? I have a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica and the exhaust pipe points straight out the back of the bumper. If any part of this cargo unit lines up with my exhaust, Im afraid it will melt or otherwise get damaged from the heat.

The closest part of the GearDeck 17 Enclosed Cargo Carrier # H00604 sits 14 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole. The metal rack portion of the carrier comes straight out from the exhaust. The pod portion of the carrier is raised above the rack about 6 inches. You could use these measurements to determine how close the carrier would be to your exhaust.
You could consider a flat cargo carrier like the Reese # PS1040100. The closest edge of this carrier is 12 inches from the hitch pin hole and it has a 4" rise shank. These dimensions are similar to the GearDeck. While you would not have to worry about the heat damaging the pod, but you will need to worry if the exhaust would damage your cargo.
I attached review videos and installation instructions for you to check out also.
