Folding Cargo Carrier for a 2005 Honda Element that Allows the Back Hatch To Open Up When Folded
Question:
Id like to get a folding cargo carrier for my 2inch hitch on my 2005 Honda Element. I had one very similar to this: C18132. but when it was folded up it blocked the tailgate from opening. Id like to get one that will allow the upper door to open while the carrier is folded to the upright position. Any recommendations?

The Curt 20x60 Folding, Aluminum Cargo Carrier, # C18100, has 5 inches of clearance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the carrier when folded up and this carrier is 21 inches tall from the top of the receiver opening to the tallest part of the carrier when folded up.
I went out to the warehouse, put together one of these carriers, and produced a short video showing the dimensions I mentioned and explaining how you could measure to determine if the upper part of the back hatch on your Element could be opened up with the carrier installed and folded.
