Troubleshooting Bad Switch on Electric Jack That Causes Spontaneous Motor Operation
Question:
My motor keeps engaging periodically on the stabilizer jack. I cant seem to find a fuse just to take the power away. Is there a fix?

An electric tongue jack like the Lippert # LC285318 and an electric stabilizing jack like # LC298707 both require a ground connection and a +12V connection to operate. Either could operate without you engaging the switch if the switch went bad or if there were another wiring issue within the jack.
A tongue jack will often have a fuse or breaker inside its housing or there could be one in the wiring that leads to it; this will depend on the specific jack and the particular installation. I do not recommend pulling the fuse to correct this, but instead having the jack checked for a bad switch. I think this is the most likely cause.
For Lippert tongue jack # LC285318 the replacement switches are no longer available.
