Weight Capacity of DeeZee Truck Box Part # DZ8170D

Question:

I plan to install this tool box in my F-350 long bed truck. I plan to put as many as six 12in Dutch Ovens in it plus other items. I an concerned if it will hold that much weight without breaking out the bottom? How thick is the bottom and sides?

I spoke with one of my contacts at DeeZee, who tells me that there really is not a weight capacity on their truck boxes. Stating an actual capacity would be difficult due to the many variables involved. A box installed on a truck driven at 20 mph exclusively on smooth-as-glass paved roads with perfectly poured concrete would have a much higher capacity than a box used in a real world setting that includes pot holes and uneven pavement.

Given the real world situation, my contact said he would not recommend placing anything on the bottom of the box that weighs more than 200 or 250 lbs.

DeeZee constructs their boxes of .056 inch aluminum sheet, and the front, rear and bottom of the box are one continuous piece, with the sides being separate pieces that are welded to the front, side and bottom after they are bent. Because of this, it's a pretty darn rugged product.
