Correct Inflation Pressure for 4.80/4.00-8 Load Range B Trailer Tire
Question:
How many psi should I inflate my boat trailer tires which are 4.80/4.00-8 load range B?

Expert Reply:
All of our Load Range B trailer tires in size 4.80/4.00-8 specify a pressure of 60-psi. The same size tires in Load Range C require higher 90-psi pressure in order to meet their higher weight carrying spec. All tire and wheel/tire items in this size that we sell appear on the linked page.
Your tires should indicate right on their sidewall what their maximum pressure is and this is what they should be inflated to when cold.
All tires will naturally warm up as you drive and you do not need to adjust pressure for this normal temperature change. Always check and inflate your tires when they are cold, meaning not driven for at least a few hours. Special trailer tires should always be inflated to their maximum psi pressure (again, this should be found on the sidewall) which is required in order for them to meet their maximum weight carrying specification. Do note that tires in any given size and load range can have varying speed ratings. However all of our tires in the 4.00-8 Bias tires, like the Kenda Loadstar K371 # AM10002 that you referenced or the Kenda # AM30020 are rated for only 65-mph All trailer tires will perform best and last longer when correctly inflated and operated within their weight and speed limits.
