How to Connect Three 10 Gauge Wires Together for Wiring Trailer Brakes
Question:
Hi I think I have a short in one of my brake wires. Id like to replace all the brake wire with 10 gauge that I bought from etrailer.com. My question is when I wire the right side over to the left side there is going to be the need of connecting 3 wires together. Id like to stick with the heat shrink butt connectors but do you offer something similar to a heat shrink butt connector to where I can connect 3 wires together? I was hoping to avoid having to use the scotchlocks as I heard they are not reliable or waterproof. Also, are there any detailed wiring diagrams that show the easiest route for electric brake wiring. I want to send all ground and power from all 4 brakes back to a junction box and just want to know what the sensible way to do it is. Thank you for your feedback

Connection three 10-gauge wires together is going to be best accomplished by soldering the connections as this is the most secure method. We have a solder gun that comes with solder as well with part # PTW2012.
I realize that not everyone knows how to solder (or wants to learn how) so if you wanted to go with the butt connector route you'd need to go with 8 gauge butt connectors so that you can accommodate the thicker wire of having 2 10-gauge wires in one side of the connector. At this time we do not carry this size.
I agree with you on the quick-splice option and I do not recommend them as they aren't as reliable.
