Comparison of Yakima MegaWarrior Roof Cargo Basket and Thule M.O.A.B. for a 2007 Toyota Sequoia

Question:

I have a 2007 Toyota Sequoia and would like to know if I will need any additional parts. I have 2 cross bars. Would you recommend the Mega Warrior or the M.O.A.B and what soft bag carrior would you recommend.

Both the Yakima MegaWarrior Roof Cargo Basket # Y07080, and the Thule M.O.A.B Roof Cargo Carrier # TH690, include the hardware needed to mount to crossbars. Since your 2007 Toyota Sequoia has factory cross bars it will mount right to them.

Both carriers come complete, but the Yakima MegaWarrior has a few add-ons, that you may find useful, such as the Spare Tire Carrier, part # Y07076. There is also the Light Mounting Bracket, part # Y07075, the Hi-Lift Jack Mount, part # Y07077, and Shovel Mount, part # Y07078.

The MegaWarrior has a weight capacity of 130 lbs, while the Thule M.O.A.B. has a weight capacity of 165 lbs. However, the amount of weigh you can carry will depend on the weight capacity of your roof rack and vehicles roof load carrying capacity. Whichever has the lowest weight capacity, whether the cargo basket, roof rack or vehicle roof, is the limit as to how much weight you can carry. Note, that the weight of the cargo basket must also be calculated as weight you will be carrying.

The MegaWarrior is slightly larger than the M.O.A.B. The MegaWarrior measures 52 inches long x 48 inches wide x 6-1/2 inches tall. The M.O.A.B. measures 44 inches x 39 inches x 6-1/2 inches.

I have linked a video review of the Yakima MegaWarrior Roof Cargo Basket # Y07080, and the Thule M.O.A.B Roof Cargo Carrier # TH690.

For a cargo bag I would recommend you get a Highland KarPak Rooftop Cargo Carrier Bag # RL100S20. This weather-resistant bag is expandable from 10 cubic feet to 15 cubic feet and would work in either cargo basket.
