Trailer Tire Recommendation for Boat Trailer with Tire Size 4.8-12

Question:

I recently got a boat trailer that is in need of new tires. It currently has a 4.8-12 and a 5.3-12 4 lug on it. How do I know what size is correct? Could both be used? What load rating would I need or how could I figure that out? Trailer weight is 510lbs. with an 18ft fiberglass boat and 100 horse engine. Thanks!

It sounds like either size would fit and work well, but since in the 4.8-12 tire size we have a radial that's the size I would recommend. Radials have higher speed ratings, are a bit more stable, and are better designed for highway use whereas bias ply tires are better for off-road applications.

So the tire I recommend is the Taskmaster part # TT48012C which has a weight capacity of 990-lb max load at 90 psi and has a speed rating of 81 mph so it will be a really great option for you.
