I reached out to my contact at Derale and he said installing the Stacked-Plate Engine Oil Cooler Kit # D15602 will add about 6 ounces of oil capacity as well as a little extra for the lines.
When changing your oil after installing the cooler you won't need to take apart the unit. You will be able to change the oil on your Ram just like normal. It's not an issue at all (and is completely normal) to have some leftover oil in the system as it simply can't be completely drained.
The included adapter is 1-3/4 inches thick so your 3 inch clearance space between the filter and axle/transfer case is no problem.
The Derale Oil Cooler Kit comes with a 1-Year warranty. I have attached the written installation manual that you can also check out.
