Troubleshooting Roadmaster Converter on RV That Keeps Failing

Question:

I have replaced my Brite-Lite two times now in two years. It seems to fail after about three months of use. It appears as if one side or the other fails to send the brake signal across to the two output wires left or right side, failed first on left and now on right. I use it with an Invisibrake that I installed last year purchased from you. When the Brite-Lite fails, the Invisibrake does not work. Do you have any suggestions or solutions?

Typically when a converter like the Brite-Lite # RM-732 fails, and especially when it happens more than once, it is the result of a short somewhere in the wiring that needs to be addressed it will most likely happen again.

Before replacing the converter with a new one I highly recommend inspecting the wiring on both the RV and your towed vehicle. On any wiring you can easily access check for pinched sections, exposed copper, or otherwise damaged portions that needs to be replaced. Make sure all the connections are secure and correct and that all the grounds are made to clean, bare metal surfaces without any debris or corrosion.

After doing this and replacing the converter it should not happen again.
