Weight Distribution Recommendation for Horse Trailer with 2-5/16 inch Ball and 950 lb Tongue Weight
Question:
Im a bit confused about weight distribution systems and the trailer ball size. My trailer has a 2 5/16ths ball. Do I need a weight distribution system with a 2 5/16 ball? The trailer Im towing is a 3-horse slant load, steel frame, 590 lbs TW empty and 950 lbs with one horse in the stall closest to the tow vehicle hope that makes sense. I was looking at the EQ37061ET but will they work with a trailer with a 2 5/16 th ball? Thanks

Expert Reply:
Since your coupler requires a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball that is the size ball you'll need installed on the weight distribution system you go with.
You'll need to go with a higher rated weight distribution system for when the trailer is loaded like you mentioned at 950 lbs of tongue weight. So for that you'd want the Equal-i-Zer kit part # EQ37120ET which has a tongue weight range of 800-1,200 lbs and comes with the correct hitch ball size of 2-5/16 inch.
