I need to have the load stops further apart for my canoe. Do I need to remove the plastic end caps to remove the upright bolts to get the load stop past the uprights?

To slide the load stops of the Erickson Truck Bed Ladder Rack # EM07705 past the uprights of the rack you'll need to unbolt the bar from the uprights so that they could slide past. See attached picture.
