Brake controllers are not vehicle specific so you can use any one that you want. What I recommend is a proportional brake controller. The way a proportional controller works is it applies the trailer brakes in proportion to how much your Bravada is braking. this is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on the trailer and vehicle.
Our most popular proportional controller and what I recommend is the Tekonsha P2, # 90885. This controller is very easy to set up and use. I have included a link to the installation details for you.
Since you have a factory tow package, it will be easier to install than a complete hardwire would be. You will need to hardwire the controller though using an installation kit like # 5506. On the brake controller, the white wire is ground and connects to the vehicle negative battery terminal. Black is power and connects to the positive battery terminal via the circuit breaker in the kit.
The red wire connects to the cold side of the brake switch. Use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 if needed to test the wires on the brake switch located above the brake pedal. You need to attach the red wire to the brake switch wire that carries a signal only when the brake pedal is pressed. If the wire shows a signal when the head lights are on or turn signals are on it is not the correct wire.
The blue wire will connect to the 7-Way trailer connector. The wire that is on the vehicle probably terminates somewhere under the vehicle, but this wire can be difficult to find. All you will need to do is route a wire from the blue wire on the controller, through the firewall, under the vehicle, and connect it to the back of the 7-Way in the 7 o'clock position. Just remove the wire that is already there.
I have included a link to an FAQ that will help.
