Installing Extended U-bolts for Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar 1139-143 on 2004 F-53 Chassis

Question:

Just spoke with a Ford Truck dealer and he said my 2004 F-53 u-bolts are 3/4inch and not 7/8, and your extended u-bolt kit shows 7/8. Who is correct? 3/4 or 7/8? May I also ask, what is the torque setting 7/8inch = 480 ft lbs? and what is the best way to getinch a high-torque wrench? Does anyone lend these? Torque setting? How to achieve high ft lbs. reading? Thank you

The Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar for Motorhomes # RM-1139-143 can use your factory u-bolts if they are long enough. If they are not, then Roadmaster recommends using the 7/8 inch diameter u-bolts that are longer (most likely the larger diameter due to length needed to ensure strength). I've attached a couple photos from the installation instructions to assist with the size and torque.

When torque specs are so large either a large special torque wrench is required or installers are told by the manufacturer to tighten to yield.

The Extended Round U-Bolt Kit for Roadmaster Anti-Sway Bars # RM-590050-10 is 20-1/4" long x 4-1/16" wide x 7/8" diameter. The Extended U-Bolt Kit for Roadmaster Anti-Sway Bar # RM-590050-00 is not as long and slightly wider with the square top. You will simply use whichever style U-bolt is currently on your coach to determine what style is needed.
