Is Neutral the Correct Position for Dolly Towing a Manual Transmission

Question:

Since you cant put a manual transmission in park to tow, do you keep in neutral or in gear to help keep the car from rolling off the dolly, second line of defense and additional safety? Thanks

When dolly towing a manual transmission vehicle you should follow any instructions outlined in your owner's manual. If your owners manual doesn't specify, then I recommend putting the vehicle in neutral and not in gear. The wheel nets should have no issue holding your vehicle in place on the dolly.

In a worst case scenario this would be less likely to cause any transmission problems.

The ramps and wheel holders of the Roadmaster Tow Dolly with Self-Steering Wheels and Electric Brakes - 4,380 lbs # RM-2050-1 or any of the alternatives we offer like # DM9713045, # RM-2050-1, will allow the wheel to sit in a recessed location with chock like ramps on either side and then secured with wheel net tie-downs.
