What Parts are Needed to Install a Trailer Brake Controller on a 1989 Mazda B2600 4WD
Question:
What kit do I need to buy to install this unit in this truck? Any instructions for the install. I am planning on buying from you soon. Just installed the 4 pole to 7 pole adapter I bought from you and now I need to do the controller. Thank you

Since you already have the # 37185 installed, you will need to hardwire the brake controller to the vehicle and to the 7-Way. What you will need is about 25 feet of # 10-2-1, a 40-amp circuit breaker, # PK54540, a circuit tester, # PTW2993, and a 20-amp circuit breaker, # PK54520, or 30-amp circuit breaker, # PK54530. (Use the 20-amp breaker if the trailer has 2 to 4 brake assemblies and use the 30-amp breaker if the trailer has 6 to 8 brake assemblies.)
With all of these parts you will just need to follow the FAQ instructions and the video I have linked for you. The 7-Way has blue and black wires on it. The blue wire goes to the brake controller blue wire and the black wire goes to the positive battery terminal via a 40 amp circuit breaker.
The brake controller white wire will need to ground to the negative battery terminal. The black wire will attach to the positive battery terminal via the 20 or 30 amp circuit breaker. The red wire attaches to the cold side of the brake switch.
