Will Curt Trailer Hitch # C15409 Fit a 2005 Dodge Ram with Factory Installed Trailer Hitch

does the factory hitch need to be removed in order to mount this hitch?

The Curt hitch, # C15409, will fit 2500 and 3500 models with or without a factory installed hitch. But, it will not fit Daytona, Hemi Sport Quad Cab, Ram Rumble Bee or SRT-10 models. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.

For a ball mount, I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit, # EBMK25318. It comes with a ball mount, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a carrying bag. If you need trailer wiring, use # 119178KIT. But if the truck has a factory 7-Way and you want to convert it to a 4-Way, you can use # 118381. I have included links to the installation details for both wiring harnesses for you.
