Will the Thule Archway Trunk Mount Bike Rack Fit a 2012 Volkswagen Beetle and Hold Beach Cruisers

will two beach cruisers fit on Thule gateway 3 Bike rack? the vehicle is a 2012 Beetle and the two cruisers are a 24inch Rover Gx womens and a Mens 26inch Micargi Huntington

The Thule Gateway, # TH78VR, will fit the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle, and the rack will hold the bikes. But, you will need to use adapters on the bikes. Beach cruiser bikes typically have alternative shaped frames. This means they would have a top frame bar that dips down instead of one that goes straight across.

In order to carry the bikes more level, you would need to use adapter # TH982XT. I have included a link to a video that shows how the adapter works.

The other issue is weight. A beach cruiser is typically heavier than other bike styles. The capacity of the rack is 105 pounds total or 35 pounds per bike.
