When towing a heavy trailer with your 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, the rear suspension will most likely drop due to the added weight placed on the vehicle. This added weight is going to cause issues such as improper headlight aim, poor braking, and an overall decreased sense of handling. Therefore, suspension enhancements like the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System part # TGMRCK15S are needed.

The Timbrens work by placing a dense piece of rubber spring between the frame and rear axle which then limits the amount of sag/squat you incur. However, the tradeoff of this is that the ride quality will be less desirable while loaded and the Timbrens are engaged. This means you may experience a more bouncy feeling when going over bumps or potholes. Think of it it terms of a mattress, a firm mattress will provide more support but in doing so also may be a bit bouncier than a softer mattress.

Now, with that being said there is always going to be a tradeoff with suspension enhancements. The other options you have that do not decrease the loaded ride quality as much is a set of the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-209-40 which will not provide as much support as the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System but will also not affect the loaded ride quality as much because they are made of a less dense rubber.

The best option for suspension enhancements in my mind is the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs part # AL57204 because you can adjust the amount of support/comfort for the trailer at any given time for the maximum ride quality. However, the tradeoff of this is that it does require maintenance unlike the Timbrens and SumoSprings.

I have attached some test course videos on each of these options you may find helpful.
