How to Replace an Integrated Brake Controller on a 2011 Ford F-550 with a Tekonsha P2 or P3
Question:
I have an F-550 Cab and Chasis with factory brake controller. This does not work with the electric-hydraulic brakes on my trailer. Will either controller work and what parts do I need to buy to be fully functional?

I spoke with my contact at Tekonsha and he informed me that your 2011 Ford F-550 with an integrated brake controller should work with electric over hydraulic brakes.
With that being said, if you still want to go to a Tekonsha P2 or P3 brake controller all you would need to do is unplug the factory brake controller and plug in the included harness into the same port.
Next you will need to go to a Ford dealership and have them reprogram your PCM so that you will not be reading an error code.
Either the Tekonsha P2 Brake Controller # 90885 or the Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller # 90195 when used with the Ford Specific Wiring Harness # 3034-P would work to operate the electric over hydraulic brakes of your setup. I attached installation instructions for both products for you to check out also.
Both controllers work very well, the P3 has a few more diagnostic features than the P2. But the P2 is a lot easier to setup right out of the box.
