Wiring a New Powered Roof Vent in a Casita
Question:
I am installing a new RV roof vent: Fan-Tastic Vent 801250 in my 16foot Casita. The original vent did not have power, so there is no wiring coming to the cutout. I need to figure out a way to wire the vent. There is black and white wiring coming from the new vent. I could take the wires over tack them to the interior roof to the power distribution panel. I just dont know what to hook them up too. Any help or suggestions would be great. Also any other ideas about getting the wires concealed so you cant see them running inside the RV.

Since there is not any wiring in the cutout of your old vent, you can wire the the new powered vent part # FV801250 to a 12v power source using 12 gauge wire part # 12-1-1.
The vent can be wired to the battery on the trailer or you may be able to find a power wire that powers a light on the trailer you can tie into. The white wire is a ground wire that needs to be spliced into another ground wire or to the negative side of the trailer's battery.
Running the wires to the power distribution box would not work because they are just fuses. You have to find the wires in the ceiling of the trailer and tap into those. You can conceal the wires by running them through the ceiling to the vent. After you have the vent installed you need to seal the vent with a silicone sealant part # 0160297 to prevent any outside elements from leaking into the trailer.
