The 24x60 etrailer.com Cargo Carrier part # E98874 is not too wide for your 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe. However, I believe what you may be concerned with is the cargo carrier blocking the tail lights while folded up. If that is the case then what you will want to do is measure outward 30" from the center of the trailer hitch. That will give you a good idea of where the edge of the basket will sit that way you can see if your tail light will be visible.
The other option you have is to install lights on the cargo carrier, the etrailer.com License Plate and LED Tail Light Mounting Kit part # e98943-44LED which you could then attach to your Santa Fe using the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118415. I have attached some install videos of the 24x60 etrailer.com Cargo Carrier on similar SUV's for you that way you can get a better idea of where it will sit when folded up.
Unfortunately, we have not yet had the chance to install the 24x60 etrailer.com Cargo Carrier on a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe yet.
