Tekonsha Brake Controller Shows N.C After Install On A 1995 Ford F-150

Question:

Purchased TK90160, 118386, 3035-P and ETBC7. Brake controller has power but is showing n.c. of trailer. Main question is do I still need to run the black power wire to my battery even though the brake controller is connected with factory harness 3035-P? Could this be related to a factory relay?

If you are using the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers part # 3035-P with the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller part # TK90160 on your 1995 Ford F-150 then you do not need to attach an additional 12 volt power wire to the brake controller. However, the blue brake output wire on the vehicle near the spare tire will still need to be connected to the 7-way. If you take a look at the attached photo you will see an orange 12 volt power wire and a blue brake output wire. The orange 12 volt power wire will need to be attached to the black wire on the 7-way and the blue brake output wire will need to be attached to the blue wire on the 7-way. If you did not attach the blue brake output wire to the 7-way then that would explain why you are receiving the "n.c." message. The "n.c." message would have nothing to do with the relays.

Please also note that the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller will show "n.c." for about 15 seconds after it turns on and then again anytime the manual knob is activated without the trailer attachment. If it show's "n.c." outside of these instances then please let me know.
