Recommended Gooseneck Hitch with Easy-to-Use Latch for 2018 Ram 2500

Why is this different for the 17 1500 and the 18 2500? I like the idea of the release up in the bed near the ball over the rod in the wheel well.

The reason for the difference between the B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNRK1309 (which is designed to fit the 2017 Ram 1500) and the B&W # BWGNRK1384 (for the 2018 Ram 2500) simply has to do with the way they need to install to the frame rails on each model. The two trucks are different enough that the same latch system on the 1500 model cannot be utilized on the later model 2500.

I definitely understand valuing the convenience of this type of latch so if this is important I recommend taking a look at the Draw-Tite Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # 9467, which is confirmed to fit the 2018 Ram 2500. This system uses a unique lever built right into the ball itself that is used to insert and remove the ball. I have attached a short video review that demonstrates this starting at around the 25 second mark.

This gooseneck hitch features a 20,000 pound towing weight capacity and its custom brackets eliminate the need for any frame drilling during installation.

All of the other gooseneck hitches available for this truck feature a latch at the wheel well like you are trying to avoid.

I went out to our warehouse and measured the opening of the B&W Turnoverball and found that to be 2-1/2" therefore you could also use any of our standard hitch covers that work with 2-1/2" trailer hitch receivers like part #C22277.
