How are Hitch Balls Secured to Mount on Flash Solid Steel Adjustable Ball Mount

Question:

How are the two balls attached to the hitch? Do they thread to each other or are they pinned together somehow. Is here any possibility of them coming apart while out on the highway towing a trailer?

I reached out to the manufacturer who said the hitch balls on the Flash Solid Steel Adjustable Ball Mounts are a solid piece that has a bolt running through it inside the mount. What this means is that there is zero chance of it coming apart while you are towing your trailer. Simply abide by the capacities of the hitch and it is extremely safe.

There are a number of Flash Solid Steel Ball Mounts, each of which comes with a 2" and 2-51/6" hitch balls and the correct one for your needs will depend on the size of your hitch receiver as well as the rise or drop you need.

If you have a 2" trailer hitch there are two mounts available, both of which have a 1,200 lb tongue weight capacity and 12,000 lb towing capacity.

- Flash Solid Steel Adjustable 2-Ball Mount - 6" Drop, 7" Rise # FA49-00-5600
- Flash Solid Steel Adjustable 2-Ball Mount - 10" Drop, 11" Rise # FA49-00-5900

These ball mounts can be secured to your trailer hitch and the ball mount can be secured to the shank with the use of the Hitch Lock and Adjustment Pin Lock Set for 2" Flash Solid Steel Adjustable Ball Mounts # FA86-00-4200.

If you have a 2-1/2" trailer hitch there are also two mounts available, both of which have a 2,000 lb tongue weight capacity and 20,000 lb towing capacity.

- Flash Solid Steel HD Adjustable 2-Ball Mount - 10" Drop, 11" Rise # FA49-00-5925
