What is the Height Difference Between ST22575R15 Load Range D and Load Range E Tires

Question:

OUR TRAILER CAME WITH OEM GOODYEAR MARATHON ST225/75R15 LOAD RANGE C. I REPLACED THEM FOUR YEARS AGO WITH GY MARATHON ST225/75R15 LR D. I BELIEVE THE LR D WERE .5 inch TALLER THAN THE LR C TIRES. IT IS TIME TO BUY NEW TIRES. CAN YOU TELL ME HOW MUCH TALLER ST225/75R15 LOAD RANGE E WOULD BE OVER A GY MARATHON ST225/75R15 LOAD RANGE D?

Expert Reply:

The ST255/75R15 digits actually refer to the external dimensions of the tires. Since your Goodyear Marathon tires have the same size as these Karrier ST225/75R15 # AM10303 they will have the same section width of 8.9" and overall diameter of 28.4".

The 1/2" difference you saw in height from the load range C to load range D tires could have simply been the difference in how much air pressure they had at the time or even the tread wear.

Attached is a review video for you to check out.
