Installing the Prodigy P3 on a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic
Question:
We just purchased a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Tradesman. A couple of local trailer and truck accessory dealers have told us that we have to get the brake controller from the manufacturer for the 2019 model and the Ram dealer has to install it. That does not seem right to me. I am interested in the Tekonsha Prodigy P3. Is this really plug and play compatible with the 2019 Ram trucks and can it be self installed? I noticed that the comment that was made on another question about this was that it should be the same as the 2017. I just want to know that it will work for our vehicle or that we can return it for refund if it does not work for us.

Yes, you can use the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3024-P to simply plug-in the Prodigy P3 # 90195 for installing it on your 2019 Ram 1500 Classic. Please note that since you have the Classic version of the 2019 Ram 1500 your pickup is the same as the 2018 Ram 1500 so it doesn't make sense as to why you wouldn't be able to install an aftermarket controller on your pickup.
The installation will be the exact same as it is on the attached video of this on a 2017 Ram 1500 which I have linked for you to reference. The connector that the adapter plugs into is found up under the dash around the brake pedal. If you check out the video you can see where we find it on the 2017.

The factory ITBM on a 1500 Classic 2019 does not work properly. I am going to use a P3 instead . There are 2 plugs that go into the OEM BC. One for the P3 and what do I do with the 2nd one? Unplug or leave it in?
