Difference Between Curt Trailer Hitches for 2019 Ford Escape
Question:
Looking for a trailer hitch for my 2019 Ford Escape. Can you tell me what the difference is between the two Curt trailer hitches? which one would you recommend for me? I do NOT have the class II towing package that I see the 13186 does not fit.

The difference between the Curt Trailer Hitch # C13186 and Curt Trailer Hitch # C12111 that fit your 2019 Ford Escape is the size of the receiver.
I recommend Curt Hitch # C13186 for your '19 Escape because it has a 2 inch receiver which gives you many more options in regards to the type of accessories you can use. This hitch has a 350 lb tongue weight capacity and 3,500 lb towing capacity but unlike the hitch with the smaller 1-1/4 inch receiver, the # C13186 is rated for use with a weight distribution system which will increase its capacities to 500 lbs for tongue weight and 5,000 lbs for towing when used with a weight distribution system.
For wiring which will give you a 4-way connector and allow you to power your trailer's lights you need Wiring Harness # C56320. It is also recommended you use Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors # 11755 to help prevent any type of corrosion in your connector, which will increase its durability and extend its lifespan.
I also recommend checking out Ball Mount Kit # 989900, which is for 2” hitches and may fulfill your towing needs in one tidy package; two ball mounts - one with a 3/4” rise or 2” drop and the other with a 2-3/4” rise or 4” drop - a 1-7/8” hitch ball, a 2” hitch ball, and a pin and clip.
I have added links to video installs of both the hitch and wiring harness on a Ford Escape for you to take a look at.
