Cargo Carrier with Rise in Shank for 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitch
Question:
I have a 2017 Camry Hybrid. Installed the 1 and 1/4 hitch and bought the corresponding 1 and 1/4 Cargo Carrier. It needs a bent shank to raise it up and keep it from dragging the ground but all I can find is 1 and 1/4 to 2. I dont want to have to buy another Cargo Carrier with a 2inch connection. What can I do to raise the Cargo Carrier so it doesnt drag the ground?

You have done your research well and are correct that the only adapters available for a 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch are either 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch adapters or extensions. That means the only real solution is to get a cargo carrier with a rise in the shank, which I know is not ideal but is going to be the only way to get you a cargo carrier that does not drag on the ground.
The silver lining in this is that you do not need to get both an adapter and a new cargo carrier because there are economical cargo carriers that fit a 1-1/4 inch hitch and have a rise in the shank. The carrier with the most rise that fits a 1-1/4 inch hitch is the Curt Cargo Carrier # C18110, which has a 3-3/4 inch rise and would be a good option for you.
The accompanying photo shows this carrier on a 2017 Toyota Camry and I have added a link to a video review showing this carrier being used on a '17 Camry for you to check out.
