Will etrailer.com Trailer Hitch fit 2010 Ford Edge With Factory Hitch
Question:
I have purchased a 2010 Ford Edge with a 1 1/4inch tow hitch that I think is a factory installed class1 or 2 hitch. Do you know if it is possible to remove the ford factory hitch and replace it with this hitch so I can carry my Dads Pride mobility Outlander full platform exterior lift? The local Uhaul dealer told me it would take several hours and I would need some reinforcement bar from Ford. He made it seem like it was going to cost a fortune of it was even possible. Any help is appreciated. Thank you very much.

The etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver # E98870 will fit your 2010 Ford Edge with the 1-1/4 inch factory trailer hitch. The manufacturer has confirmed that this hitch is designed to fit under your Ford's factory hitch.
Keep in mind this is a Class III hitch with a 2 inch receiver that this hitch has a 400 lb tongue weight capacity which is the maximum amount of weight your dad's mobility scooter and lift would be able to weigh. It is also recommended you use Cam Buckle Stabilizing Strap for Hitch-Mounted Accessories # 18050 with this hitch when using it with accessories like yours.
I have added a link to a video showing how this strap is used.
