Troubleshooting Loss of Communication Between Blue Ox Patriot Unit and Controller

Question:

Thank you for your help. I tried the steps you mentioned but they didn't work. Can you recommend a different braking system for me to use?

I spoke with my contact at Blue Ox who said to try locating the controller for the Patriot # BLU37TR closer to the driver's side window. If that doesn't work then you can try moving it up a little higher to see if that helps with the signal strength. Be sure that whenever you are moving it around that you move it in small increments each time you test.

To replace the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR I recommend going with one of the fixed wired systems from SMI. These stay permanently installed but in such a way that they are out of sight and mind when you are using your vehicle normally. They activate the brakes in your vehicle in proportion to how much your motorhome is braking for a safe and smooth stop every time. If your motorhome has air brakes then the Air Force One # SM99243 is the correct system for you to use. If you have hydraulic brakes on your motorhome then the Saty-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 is what you want to use instead. I have attached some videos for each system that you can reference. If you let me know what the year/make/model is for your tow vehicle then I can make additional recommendations for the flat towing setup if necessary.
