2-Bike Platform Bike Rack for 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser with Spoiler

Question:

Hello, I drive a 2018 Land Cruiser. My concern is that this SUV has a spoiler. Will this bike rack Thule Raceway Platform 9003 damage the spoiler especially if I load 2 road bikes?

A trunk-mounted bike rack is not the best choice for a vehicle like your 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser that has a spoiler. Once loaded the weight would potentially damage the spoiler. I can offer you a better option.

Since you prefer a platform style rack you could use a hitch-type platform carrier, such as the Thule Doubletrack Pro XT # TH92BJ. Benefits of a hitch rack versus a hatch-mount rack are that no pressure or weight is put on the vehicle's spoiler or rear hatch area and you do not lose the use of a rear wiper if one is present. Since hitch racks put the load on the vehicle frame, not on its sheet metal, you can carry heavy bikes without worry about damage to your spoiler or even to the paint finish.

If you're looking for a premium-quality 2-bike Thule platform rack that will be compatible with virtually all bike types you might own in the future then I urge you to consider their EasyFold XT hitch carrier # TH903202. The EasyFold packs a lot of features and flexibility into a single rack. It is pretty much in a class by itself. Here's why.

The EasyFold fits both 1-1/4-inch and 2-inch hitches, includes locks for the rack itself and for your two bikes, handles heavy bikes up to 65-lbs each (like e-bikes) and includes an anti-rattle pin. What's really unique is that is also includes a loading ramp so you never have to lift the bikes' weight to load them and it folds up to a compact size for easy storage, as shown in the included photo. It even has a handy foot-operated tilt mechanism and built-in wheels! Check out the video too so you can see all this rack offers.
