Is There a Hazard Pulse Preventer on the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller Part # C51180

Question:

Interesting to know how it works. Do the trailer brakes still work if the hazard lights are on with the override applied? How does the module know the difference if it only sees the brake light signal?

Yes, there is a hazard light override feature on the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 that you can turn on via the in-app settings (see photo). Therefore, if you needed you could drive with the hazard lights flashing and not have to worry about the brake controller applying the brakes on the trailer.

If the hazard light pulse preventer is turned on via the in-app settings and you have the hazard lights on then the brake controller would only activate if you were to apply the manual override. This is more or less to discourage people from driving down the road at highway speed with the hazards on.
