Converting Tandem to Single Axle Boat Trailer
Question:
Im converting an old dual axle trailer to single axle. Do the leaf springs come with this axle, and if not, what would be the appropriate springs? Id probably need hangers and mounting hardware as well since Ill be fabricating a whole new suspension. The trailer frame is made from galvanized C bent metal, as opposed to square tube. Probably not the proper terminology. Any suggestions appreciated.

The Dexter Trailer Idler Axle w/ Hubs part # 20545I-EZ-72-10 does not come with leaf springs but we do have the correct ones for you as well as the leaf spring hangers, shackle straps, u-bolts, and everything else you need to convert to a single axle. For the leaf spring, I recommend using the 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring part # e66SR. For the suspension kit, I recommend the Single-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs part # APS4. For the u-bolt kit, I recommend the U-Bolt Kit for Round Trailer Axles part # APUBR-10. The title says for 2,000 lb axles but will work on the above 2,200 lb axle as well because they have the same diameter.
The above components will be everything that you need to convert your trailer over to a single axle. I have attached review/install videos for you as well.
