Are Raised Side Rails Required for a Roof Rack on a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude
Question:
Im having trouble finding crossbars that fit to my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude. It has come with the factory black plastic mold roof rail system, that is screwed into the roof. All of the cross bars I come across are for the actual rail system that is on some of the Grand Cherokees. Do I need to buy that rail system to fit crossbars/roof rack, or are there products that will fit the plastic rail system. Thanks!

I have exactly what you will want to add a set of crossbars to your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude and you will not need to purchase the raised side rails in order to do so. For this, I recommend using the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbar System which consists of part # RRVA137B-2, part # RRRLKVA, and part # DK234. The reason I recommend this system for you is because it has all of the features (aero crossbars, channel mounts) that the higher end options like Thule and Yakima have but without the added cost. They also come with locks whereas it is extra for Thule and Yakima.
The above system will attach to the door seals unaffected by the flush black side rails. That is how all of the roof racks will attach to your vehicle with the flush black side rails.
