Parts Needed to Install a 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 2011 Lincoln Navigator with Factory 4-Way
Question:
Our 2011 Navigator came with the 4 pin plug. Will this give me what I need to convert to 7 pin without cutting into factory wiring harness?

What you will need in order to add a 7-Way to your 2011 Lincoln Navigator is the Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole and 4 Pole, # 37185. The # 118243 harness is actually for Ford Super Duty trucks. In order to install the adapter on your Navigator you will first plug the 4-Way you have into the back of the adapter. That will leave just 4 wires to hardwire to the vehicle.
The white wire will need to be grounded to the frame of the vehicle. Yellow goes to the reverse light wire behind one of the tail lights unless the trailer does not have reverse lights, then you could just tape it up and stow it out of the way. The black wire connects to the positive battery terminal via a 40 amp circuit breaker. The blue wire attaches to the blue wire on a brake controller.
What I recommend is to go ahead and use the 4 and 7 Way installation Kit, # ETBC7, which comes with the adapter and all the wiring and circuit breakers you will need. I have included a link to an FAQ article and a video that shows a typical installation of an ETBC7.
If you need a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885. It is one of our best selling controllers because it is easy to set up and easy to use. I have included a link to the installation details for the controller as well.
