The correct B and W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch for your 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 is the part # BWGNRK1394 and the measurements to use vary depending on your bed length. You'll want the hole centered from left to right but from the rear edge of the truck bed the hold would be 48-3/8 inches if you have a long bed or 44-3/8 inches if you have a short bed. I attached a picture that I took from the install instructions which shows this as well.
