How Much Will the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit, # K71-385-00 Raise the Trailer
Question:
How much lift do I get with this kit? If this kit doesnt provide enough lift, can I add lifting blocks to it? Thanks

First, you would need to have the spring seats welded to the top of the axle. You cannot flip the axle because then the existing spring seats would be bent the wrong way. What you can do is measure from where the springs are attached to the spring seat now up to the top of the axle to determine the approximate amount it will raise the trailer when using the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit, # K71-385-00.
To use this kit you will need to have a 3 inch diameter axle. When lifting your trailer keep in mind that the geometry of the trailer will change. You may have a lower or heavier tongue weight, and the trailer may become top heavy, which can contribute to trailer sway and instability. In these situations, you may need a weight distribution system with sway control if you do not already have one. I have provided a link to weight distributions systems for you.
I do not advise using blocks to add lift because it will only increase the instability of the trailer. If you are wanting to raise the trailer because the towing vehicle is too high, the best and cheapest solution is to use a ball mount with more drop. I have included a link to our ball mount main page and a link to our FAQ on choosing the correct ball mount.
