Will the Blue Ox KarGard Towed Vehicle Protector Work with the Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar
Question:
I have the BLUE OX AVAIL tow bar BX7420. Does the KarGard BX8870 fit this tow bar??? Im assuming that it would need to be removed to disconnect the towed vehicle. If so, is it easy to remove so the tow bar can be folded away???

Yes, the Blue Ox KarGard Towed Vehicle Protector part # BX8870 will work with the Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar part # BX7420. The center bolt that holds on the triple lug connector will be removed and then reinstalled with the bracket for the KarGard. It is very simple to do, just one bolt each side for the tow bar part.
The KarGard does not have to be removed to remove your tow vehicle but you will more than likely want to when reattaching. It is not so much that it prohibits the vehicle form reattaching but rather just becomes a nuisance and makes it harder.
Once you install the brackets, there are four pins that hold the guard on which will need to be removed in order to take it off the tow bar. This is also very simple to do which you can see in the attached video.
