Hitch and Hitch Bike Rack for 2018 Chevy Camaro 2-Door Coupe with Spoiler

Are there any trunk type 2 bike racks that will fit my 2018 Camaro that has the wing/spoiler on the trunk? We have basic beach bikes now but we may be getting new heavier electric ones in the next year or two. I would like to buy the rack ONCE and not have to change it if we get new bikes.

I can help you with a 2-bike carrier solution for your 2018 Camaro but the various bike rack makers such as Thule, Yakima and Kuat have not confirmed any trunk-mount type bike rack fits for the 2018 or 2019 Camaro 2-door coupe.

The solution I can offer you is a hitch-mount bike rack, which will naturally require a hitch to be installed on the Camaro. This is not bad news. A hitch bike rack will protect your trunk from scratches and dents from the weight of the loaded rack. It will let you carry heavier bikes and having a hitch on the Camaro means that if you ever need more cargo space you'll be able to drop in a compatible Class I hitch cargo carrier like # C18110.

Of the available hitches I recommend the USA-made Curt Class I hitch # C11900 which has a 1-1/4-inch receiver size and a 200-lb tongue weight rating which is plenty for the weight of a loaded hitch-mount 2-bike rack. You'll also want to use the bike rack support strap # 18050 to keep the rack steady as you drive.

There are a lot of 2-bike hitch racks that will work in this Curt hitch. Prices vary, designs vary as do the weights of the racks since their primary material can be either heavy and sturdy steel or lightweight corrosion-free aluminum. The type of bikes you want to transport, now and possibly in the near future, will help decide on the best hitch rack. I linked two articles that will help you too.

Since you're now using beach cruiser bikes that can be a bit heavier than average and also have wider tires, and because you're potentially going to move to even heavier electric bikes in the future, I recommend one particular hitch rack from Thule.
