How to Determine Fifth Wheel Pin Box Model

Question:

I have a 2014 Heartland Gateway 3650BH 5th wheel with a factory standard pin box, I need to replace with a FlexAir pin box. I do not have the factory pin box part number. Which FlexAir pin box should I buy for replacement?

If you are unable to contact your trailer's manufacturer with your VIN to find the factory pin box model number there are some steps you can take which will allow you to determine what pin box model you have so you can purchase a new FlexAir.

To do this you will need to follow the steps in the linked help article, which I will go over with you. Start by selecting your pin box style like in the accompanying photo (which you will also find in the help article). You will then need to use that drawing and measure the horizontal bolt hole distance, vertical bolt hole distance, bolt size, bolt head size, front row of bolts to king pin, back row of bolts to king pin and pin box width.

When you have these measurements you will need to compare those to the chart in the aforementioned linked help article and find the pin box with the matching dimensions.

For example, if you had 7-7/8" horizontal bolt hole distance, 2" vertical bolt hole distance, 5/8" bolt size, 15/16" bolt head size, measured 17-3/4" from the front row of bolts to the king pin, 25-5/8" from the back row of bolts to the king pin and a 12" pin box width you have a Lippert 1621 pin box and need the Curt Flex Air # LC328492.

The following are the other options depending on your pin box:

- Lippert 0719: # LC328484
- Lippert 1621HD: # LC158778
- Lippert 1116: # LC155943
- Leland 7920: # UF35-946208
- Fabex 750, 765 and 770, RBW 7028: # UF35-946212
- Fabex 730, RBW 7019: # UF35-946215
- Steelco/Davis, Venture: # UF35-946211
