Are Side-Frame Mount Jacks Available With Different Gear Ratios

Question:

Is there different gear ratios for the RAM 12k jacks? My gooseneck is VERY tongue heavy with our camper on the front of our gooseneck and cranking it up is a pain.

For that I recommend an electric jack set like the Ultra-Fab Deluxe Electric Landing Gear Set # UF17-943010 which has a combined 12,000 lbs of capacity, and offers 38" of lift.

The first thing you will need to know to get the right axle is your current axle's spacing from hub face to hub face and spring center to spring center. For example the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles - 7,000 lbs # 8327834 measures 95" from hub face to hub face and 80" from spring center to spring center. The Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles - 7,000 lbs # 8327864 measures 94" hub face to hub face and 79" spring center to spring center. With these you would also need compatible hubs and drums # 42866UC3-EZ. What you would need apart from the axle (assuming you have double-eye springs) are two more double-eye springs, two more center hangers, two more equalizers, eight more shackle straps, 10 more shackle bolts and the hardware to attach the axle. You will need to get the same size components as you currently have and know the axle spacing you currently have. Or you can replace all of the suspension components at once with something like the Triple Axle Hanger Kit # APTT5. This may need to be the case because all of the hangers would have to be moved and a third axle in front of the forward-most axle would be very far forward and you may need to move the existing axles back a bit before re-installing the third axle. I have added a link to a help article on trailer suspension which I highly recommend checking out and a link to our trailer suspension components.
