From the research I did, the 2011 Buick Lacrosse can be flat towed. You will want to consult the vehicle owners manual for any additional information on towing the vehicle.

There are 5 major components needed to flat tow a vehicle. You will need base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and a supplemental braking system.

Base plates provide a safe and secure attachment point on the vehicle to attach a tow bar. For your vehicle you can use the EZ base plates, # 523166-1. For a compatible tow bar the most popular option for EZ base plates is the Roadmaster Falcon 2, # RM-520. I have included a link to the installation details and a link to a video review of the tow bar for you.

For safety cables I recommend the Coiled Cables, # RM-643. The coiled design helps to keep the cables from touching the ground. For lighting, I recommend going with the Roadmaster Universal Hy-power Diode Wiring Kit, # RM-154. I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation.

Most states now require a supplemental braking system on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the Roadmaster Even Brake, # RM-9400. This is a proportional system that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the towing vehicle is braking. Proportional systems are the safest way to stop and they reduce wear and tear on both vehicles.

I have also included a link to our series of FAQ articles on flat towing for you.
