Helpful Expert Reply:
Your 2016 Ram 1500 is absolutely equipped to tow a 6,000 lb trailer. However, this vehicle has rear coil springs which tend to compress more so than trucks with rear leaf springs when a load is present. This means that the vehicle will be more prone to sagging/squatting while loaded/towing.
In order to reduce the amount of sag/squat you receive while loaded/towing, I highly recommend using a set of suspension enhancements such as the Air Lift AirLift 1000HD Air Helper Springs part # AL60818HD. The reason I recommend using these over something like the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System part # TDR1500DQ is because of ride quality.
Basically, while loaded the airbags will be like riding on a cushion of air and the Timbren's will be like riding on a stiff rubber block. The rubber block will provide more support but the airbag will be plenty fine for the weight you are pulling. The only downside of the airbags is that they do require a bit of maintenance but they are also adjustable so I think this is well worth the ride quality difference. They are also both very easy to install.
