Trailer Wiring Harness for 2005 Nissan Titan and Brake Controller
Question:
I had my mechanic install new trailer wiring for my 2005 Nissan titan. he said hes done a hundred of them. I tried myself and saw a connection under the dash labeled trailer brakes. I didnt have the time so I had him do it. He said there were many corroded wires he had to replace and he didnt even use that factory connection. Now when im in cruise control and turn on the blinker cruise control dis-engages. also if I accelerate with the blinker on the engine runs rough. Hes screwed up my truck big time. So after 10 days and $900 dollars its worse. I wouldnt bring my Tonka Truck to him at this point. I want to tear out everything he did and start over. I looked , but cant seem to find a harness that goes into that underdash factory plug and to my trailer connection . Do i need to go to Nissan for that ? Am i on the right track at all?

On your 2005 Nissan Titan if you have the factory 7-way, you should have been able to simply install the Factory Style 7-Way and 4-Way Flat Vehicle End Trailer Connector # N40975 and then add the brake controller wiring harness # 3050-P and brake controller like # 90195. I've attached some videos to assist.
If you didn't have the factory 7-way, then you need a powered converter like # C59496 to give you a 4-way and then the # ETBC7 Kit to help finish your hardwiring. I don't believe this is the case because you have the labeled trailer connection under your dash, but it is an alternative if he did a number on your wiring harness.
I recommend removing the wiring he did and making sure you connect any wires he spliced with heat shrink butt connectors like # DW05744-10. If he really did a number, you may need to replace you wiring harness but from the sounds of it, it may be an easy fix.
